Man Credit

This morning I earned a man credit by fixing our food disposal.  On second thought, fixing the food disposal may only merit a half credit, because it was really easy.  I simply had to press a red button on the bottom of the disposal in order to reset the circuit after an olive pit had jammed the blades.

I'm  running soon, but afterwards I'm going on a fun food excursion with my in-laws. My mother-in-law is guiding us on a tour of Twin Cities markets.  I've never heard of any of the places on the tour, so I'm pretty excited.

I enjoyed Eastern Promises.  It's about the Russian Mafia in London and is directed by David Cronenberg and stars Viggo Mortensen, who also starred in Cronenberg's A History of Violence, which I also liked.  Like it's predecessor, the central conflict in Eastern Promises occurs between a crime family and a normal family.  There isn't a ton of violence, but what's there is gruesome, and the plot moves fast.   Film geek note:  The sound editor really contributed to the fast pace, by blending the sound of one scene to the sound of a following scene.

Amy's Lentil Soup

Amy's Organic Lentil Soup is delicious.  I might like it better than Campbell's tomato soup.

Amazon music

If iTunes DRM annoys you, you should try Amazon's mp3s.  Amazon's mp3s are DRM free and each file is a dime or two cheaper than those on iTunes.  iTunes still has a way better user interface than Amazon, but I expect Amazon will catch up.

Music Day

eelk0008 and I spent the morning reading food magazines, mostly Bon Appetit, and then downloading the music from their dinner party play lists.  Their music is often very good.  Is it odd that a food magazine is one of my favorite places for discovering music?

We just finished downloading M.I.A., Junior Senior, and the Beastie Boys' instrumental album The Mix-Up.  It's a butt shaking mix, so we had an impromptu dance party.  Is there a band that's more fun than Junior Senior?

Delicious Weekend

Xanga kept crashing on me yesterday, so my first post in a month didn't get saved.  Very irritating.  Here's a quick summary:  I ate and drank a lot of good food and liquor this weekend.

MindyDear made some gourmet home cooking featuring breaded pork chops, gravy, great root vegetables, and a delectable spaghetti squash cake.  I envied Chubby Weasel his breakfast, because I'm sure it featured pork chops and gravy.

Last night's dinner was at my sister-in-law's house.  She made a good salmon and a tremendous risotto and roasted tomatoes dish that paired excellently with the chenin blanc/viognier I brought.

That's about it.  Oh yeah, I'm also sad to see that our brief spring thaw is coming to an end today with 3''-5'' of snow forecasted.
